In this workshop Steve and Maggie will share the work they are doing with a group of MAT CEOs and school leaders exploring the power and potential of a more compassionate approach to our leadership, and the impact this could have on the creation of a kinder and more humane education system.

They will draw on the insights from a recent evidence based and practical seminar where they invited over 50 education leaders to meet with senior figures from Universities, Health, Social Care, Policing and Parliament all of whom have explored compassionate leadership and its impact in their own context.

This workshop will share how the 'call to action' from the seminar has resulted in innovative work in a range of schools and trusts, which has deepened our understanding of compassionate leadership in action. 

In this workshop we’ll explore the evidence and discuss how a compassionate approach to leadership can make a positive impact on areas including staff absence, burnout, trust and risk taking, psychological safety and improved ownership and we’ll ask the question ‘what’s holding us back?’
