Andrew Wright OBE
Chair of the Attachment Research Community
Andy is the Chair of the Attachment Research Community (ARC), a Trustee of the West Midlands Virtual School Head Teachers Children In Care Foundation and represents Virtual Schools on the Association of School & College Leaders (ASCL) Council.
Andy has over 40 years of teaching experience, including over 20 years as a Senior Leader, as Head Teacher/Principal, in a range of secondary school, and leading two Virtual Schools across the West Midlands. A clear strategic thinker, Andy has an expertise in school improvement within challenging settings, transforming the ethos of schools, the behaviour, attendance and attainment of young people. He has been recognised by Ofsted as a leader who sets ‘a clear direction and vision focusing on raising aspirations and achievements’.
As a system leader, Andy is committed to developing a sustainable system of support to enable all children to develop into independent and successful adults. He recognises the importance of strong partnerships across services, businesses and agencies and continues to help develop resources that will benefit the life chances of our most vulnerable learners.
Andy was recognised for his work in the Kings Birthday Honours list in 2024 where he was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for ‘services to children in care, care experienced young people and the education community’.
